in my SO’s absence, something I’m coming to realize is that, with me, the biggest difference between all of my closest relationships is how I respond when they’re not there.

I can go weeks, months without seeing someone I consider a best friend. Because I’m happy to know they’re out there doing their thing and when I see them again, things will click right back into place.

But with a relationship, you kinda want them there.

You wanna touch them, you wanna hold them. Idk you want them there. And that’s why relationships demand more. Relationships are work. I talked to Alessandra for over 2 and a half years, and during those 2 years, we’d just talk, and mess about and be completely ridiculous and it never seemed like it would come down to this.

But now that she’s not here, I’m realizing I never really reacted to someone this close to me not being there in this way. I am now willing to do what it takes to have a life with this person and be able to see them and support them everyday is something entirely new.

Idk this is all new to me, I miss her, I think. I just miss her.
